Ernst Otto came from Germany in 1872. He married 2nd in Lavaca Co., tX to Josephine (PAULER) Winkler, a widow with two children. Ernst and Josephine lived in Fayette Co., TX and had many more children. Ernst OTTO came on the ship SSKoln from Bremer. On the death certificate of one of his sons, it said he was born in about 1865 in OHLAN, GERMANY. I cannot find that on the map today. WHERE was that place? My great grandfather was the son of Ernst Otto and Josephine his second wife. His name is Fredrick R. Otto; he was born in Fayette Co., TX. Welcome all answers. I am searching for any information on the BARDIN family that lived in Fayette County from 1835 to at least 1876. Parents were Wasdin and Catherine Dickinson BARDIN, and they had Jesse, David Crockett, Andrew J. Shadrick D, Green S., and John Thomas BARDIN. I know Wasdin owned land in Austin, Colorado, and Fayette Counties, but am searching for his parents, or any information in general on the family. I'm looking for any information pertaining to any of these: Leonados William BARKER and Martha Rebecca PERRY BARKER, parents of Georgianne Vincene BARKER WHITEHEAD, who was born in Bastrop County in 1854. Leonados (L.W.) was the son of John and Permelia BARKER. I believe L.W. may have been a carpenter in Lexington around 1860. Martha Rebecca is said to be the daughter of Benjamin PERRY and Eliza KIMBRO, of unknown origin. Georgianne married James Bradford WHITEHEAD in Williamson County and lived in Liberty Hill, Williamson County, in the late 1800's.

Know the family of Charles Neely, born 1820's, wife Jane Ann NEWTON, arrived in this area in the 1850's. Charles was born in Tennessee as was his first two sons (I.N. and A.V.) Arthur marries Julia A. Robinson. I.N. and A.V. were children of Charles first wife who the children list as having been born in Tenn, whereas Jane Ann NEWTON was born in Arkansas.Possible that the mother's first name was Louisa (both boys name their first girl Louisa). Their son John Campbell HUNT participated in the Battle of San Jacinto and lived near Smithville. George died not long after he arrive of a fever. Seeking the possible location of settlers of this period to search for George's grave. Any hint would be helpful. The family later move to Bastrop and then to Fayette county. The reason for the TX search is the following excerpt from the 1850 Navarro County, TX Census: page 18 - 37/7: Robert Stark, age 44 b Va; Mary, 38; Samuel J 18; Amanda 15; Margaret 13; Robert 11; Constance F; 8, Henry Clay 6; and Bell 2. Robert and his son, Samuel, are listed as farmers. Mary and all the children were born in Ky. so they obviously left Ky circa 1848/49. There are STARKs listed in the 1860 Cooke Co. KOPECKY was born 1870 in Halenkov, CZ (part of the Austrian Hungarian empire) The young family arrived in Indianola TX Nov 1871/2 The father was Pavle KOPERCKY and the mother was Anna Marie JANACEK the children were Anna, under 7, John, Joseph, and Pavel. Another brother Martin was born in the state of TX The mother soon died and the boys, at least, went to live with a German family while the father went to work on the railroad. I cannot find any of them until 1900. Joseph married a Mary WOLF in Fayette County. Hi, my name is Sharon Johnson. My Grandfather, Edgar A. Hoffmann, was born in Fayette County. We have a reunion once a year on the third Sunday of April at the Freyburg Hall. I have in my possession approximately 30 - 40 pictures (4X6's). I do not know who these people are - we have taken these pictures to our reunion, and no one remembers these folks. Everyone seems to say that they are related, but do not know the names. These pictures were all taken in the vicinity of Freyburg. Some of the photographer names are: M. Cadwell - Flatonia, TX -- Wm. I am searching for descendants or information concerning John HANEY or R. MOSS, mayor of La Grange in Feb. 1906.
A train in Ottawa, Illinois killed JOHN HANEY on May 8, 1906. According to information found on his body he was a Civil War Veteran of the 4th Tex. Cav., CSA and the body was buried by the Grand Army of the Republic Chapter (Union Veterans) with full military honors for this their one time enemy.
From the OTTAWA REPUBLICAN TIMES (Ottawa, Illinois) May 8, 1906, I am quoting the newspaper article:
"From a paper found on his person it was learned that the deceased was John Haney, a former member of the 4th Texas Cavalry, and therefore a Confederate soldier. The paper was in the nature of a certificate issued by R. Moss, mayor of La Grange, Texas, under date of February 12, 1906, recommending John Haney to all charitably disposed persons who would assist him in passing from La Grange to his destination."
In order to bring this veteran home to his family at least in spirit we are trying to find descendants of either Mr. Haney or the mayor, R. Moss.
