I am looking for the descendants of E.Y. Keen, who was a prisoner at Molina Del Rey, Mexico-either from the Mier Expedition or the Dawson/Salado Creek Massacre. I have transcribed copies of two letters written by Ed. Y. Keen to Henry Gonzalvo Woods,one dated 7-20-1842 and the other has no date. The originals are in the archives in Austin. I have lots of information to share on the Willis and Miranda Hildebrand CHANDLER family which settled on Buckner's Creek near LaGrange about 1851. They operated a mill on their farm. In 1874 they sold out and moved to Bastrop County. The CHANDLERS came to Texas from Meramac Township, Jefferson County, Missouri.

Seeking and sharing information on Suttons in Round Top, Fayette County, TX. My ggggfather William Sutton moved from Bedford County, TN to Fayette County, buying land there in 1841. William's children came with him and settled in the County as well. His children with his first wife Elizabeth (possible surname Turner)were born in TN. Their names were John, Sarah, Wesley, Ann, William, Cyrene, Henrietta, Mary Ann, Charles Finley, Elizabeth, Martha, and Jane. I am looking for information on the family of James S. Smith, born about 1803 in North or South Carolina. He had a son named William Henry Smith who was born in 1840 in Georgia. I can find James S. Looking for info on a John Stall family listed in the 1880 Fayette County census pgs.281-282. He is listed as a native of Hanover. I believe that he came to Texas from the Reading, Ohio area and is related to my wife's g-grandmother, Agnes Stall(born 1860). I am researching the family of Jonas and Mary Gregg Randall. They came from OH via a few stops and landed in Rutersville, TX around 1839. Jonas was listed as a Justice of the Peace in 1842 and 1844. Jonas was also listed on the Republic of Texas Poll Lists for 1846 as a resident in Fayette Co. I believe two of his children, Sarah Louisa "Sallie" and Thomas Polk Randall, were born in Rutersville in 1843 and 1846. This family moved to Port Lavaca, TX by 1848. Jonas died in 1852. Does anyone know where the Ross Cemetery is? We understand that the old time locals of Fayetteville called a nearby cemetery, the "Ross Cemetery"? From our research, that may not be the correct name of the Cemetery. It is probably located in or around Fayetteville and was given that "name" after James Ross. I am looking for information on the Rankin family. Samuel Rankin was born in 1784 in Va, moved to Ky when just a baby. He moved to Tennessee by the mid 1820's. Samuel moved his family to Texas by 1840, to San Augustine County. They moved later to Fayette County. He died in about 1848, his wife Hannah Harrison Rankin, remained on the county census in 1850, and 1860. Among their children were: Daniel Harrison Rankin, who became a newspaper man in Washington, and then Brenham; Calvin Rankin, a doctor at Round Top; Hanniah Rankin, Robert Rankin, Samuella Rankin m. Robert Carter.

I am looking for info on the SAXON family that settled in Fayette County ca. 1872 - 1873. The following is a newspaper clipping from The Bastrop Examiner 30 Oct 1875.: N. THOMAS of Winchester, Fayette County, reports on the family of Edward D. SAXON who died recently. The Rev. Sanford SAXON, Baptist minister, came to this vicinity 3 yrs ago & settled on Maj. J.C. STRIBLING's farm in Cunninghams Prairie. This man & wife died the same year leaving 8 children. The oldest, a girl of 17 or 18 ( we think Elizabeth) married Sam SMITH who keeps "Jonis' Ferry" 3 miles from here. Robert, the eldest boy, is at the ferry. Paratine is with Major STRIBLING. Samuel is with Mr. Wesley HUNT in Williamson Cty, Marietta is with Mrs. COOK at Rutersville in this county. The little girl Emma is with Mr. BASTIAN of Bastrop. The youngest is deceased. This family came from Florence, a small place in Alabama. Any info on any of these names welcomed!

Marriage Licenses & Certificates - 1848 Can anyone tell me whether a marriage license issued in 1848 in Fayette Co. could have been hand-written rather than completed on a form? I have a scanned copy (a printout, not an electronic file) of one issued in 1848. The source is a late cousin who got what he wrote me was the original three years ago from our aunt. I am looking for more information on the family of Miles Harper Campbell, who migrated to the Burleson/Fayette Co area between late 1850's and 1870's from Mississippi. I know that some of the children married in Fayette County. Miles married Ann Byrd, dau of Ira Byrd. ROBINSON, BURLESON, OWEN, WARREN Seeking information about Jerry K. Robinson, who lived either in Bastrop Co, Gonzales Co., or Fayette Co. Texas in 1860. He and his family lived near Vollie Burleson Owen's farm, and I think he had an older brother. He married Vollie Ann Warren in 1859, and died in the Civil War in 1862 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Will share information I have on decendents.

Help, Please. Looking for info on Elender Wallace. Based on court records, Elender lived in Fayette Co., TX during 1869. Trying to determine husb's name & any ch but I do not have access to any TX census records for that period of time--if she even appeared on the census. Elender Farr (dau of Thomas & Mary FARR/Fulton Co., GA) was married several times: m1: Coleman Goldin; m2 __?__ Powell; m3 __?__ WAllace. Notes in probate files indicate she "married a man named Powell & moved to Texas". However,in April 1869 (when she appointed her former bro-in-law Pleasant Goldin as her atty-in-fact), she was known as Elender Wallace. Poss she wound up in Lee Co, part of which was taken from Fayette ? Any info would be appreciated. Will be glad to exchange/share info.

I am looking for information on my Great Grandparents. They are Jasper William Sawyer born abt 1889 in West Point, Texas and died April , 1958 in Houston, Texas. Mary M Friemel born Aug 16, 1889 in West Point, Texas and died Oct. 23, 1976 in Houston Texas. They married May 6, 1906 in West Point, Texas. Both are buried in the LaGrange city Cemetery along with a son Henry Sawyer who was born abt 1924 and died Sept 1954. They had eight children total.
