Thomas Hill and Mary Alley married and had 4 children who inherited their one forth of Mexican Land grant of "Heirs of William Alley" dated 1827, in Fayette County Texas. All of these people came from Missouri except possibly the last two of Thomas and Mary's children, which were; William, Charles b.1830, Jane m.Robert McGahan, Wallace m. Magaret? Charles m. Martha Riser daughter of Martin Riser and Julia G Mercer,who had bought some of the Mexican Land grant from some of the heirs of William Alley. Wallace Hill was said to have settled on a ranch near Laredo in Webb County. After Charles and Martha died the children had a guardian named Thomas A. Hill who was a banker in Wiemar,in Colorado county. Does anyone know what relation he might have been to this Hill famil? Any information about any of these people would be greatly appreciated. |

Mildred Ozell STONE was married to Ernest BOHUSKI. I am looking for information on the Josef Maly family of Praha, Fayette co., TX. Josef was born Apr or May of 1844 in (Moravia?) He arrived in NY on June 1, 1884 aboard the ship Oder, from Bremmen. He brought his wife, Josephine Janek (widow of Michael Vasut) her son, Frank Josef Vasut, Josephine and his children Amelia, Ludvig, and Franziska. Their son Josef Maly jr. was born in NY. in 1884. Josef worked as a cobbler in NY for 5 years, before migrating to Praha, TX. Gerhard(t?) Theilengerdes buried wife Annie (her maiden name may have been something like "Heinjes"), in about 1890 and began to raise his children Johanna or Yohanne (age 10), Fritz (age 8), and August (age 6). I believe they were Lutheran. Gerhard(t) died of a heatstroke in 1901, probably in Shiner. I believe they came to this country from Oldenburg (Germany) between 1874 and 1880. I've so far found no mention of that family name in Germany. All of his children died relatively young and left few decendants. There are currently only 3 men with the Theilengerdes name. If anyone ever finds mention of this family, please let me know. Thanks! The Seidels and the Dierschke's were a large group who arrived thru Galveston in 1867, settled near New Ulm and then soon settled. |

I am looking for information about the parents of my GGmother, Sara Nolan - born in 1893. She was a light skinned Black lady - one of 11 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Pitt Nolan of La Grange. According to Sara's obituary, she attended the La Grange Public School and united with Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She married James Williams and had two children, James D. and Chester. Her parents must have been born around 1870's - anybody have any suggestions on where to go from here? |

I am researching Antonin PETER, b. 1850, in Frenstat, Moravia and wife, Paulina OTIPKA, b. 1840, in Moravia. They married abt. 1878 and emigrated to New York in 1891 with four sons: Rudolf (Bacak ?), Antone A. Peter, (15), Joseph L. Peter (13), and Frank A. Peter, (7). Frank A. Peter (name later changed to PETTER) was my grandfather. He married Amelia KUPCAK, b. 1886, in Hostyn, TX and they had 3 boys and 10 girls. Amelia was the daughter of Valentin Kupcak and Mary PROSIFKA Kupcak. Frank and Amelia are both buried in Praha, TX. I am looking for information on the family of my 2g grandfather, Charles H. MORAN. Born abt 1814 in NC, he married Elizabeth Ann BUCKHOLTS in May of 1838 in Sumter Co. AL. The family removed to TX abt 1840-1841 and he claimed a 4th class land headright originally in Montgomery Co. TX. The family is incorrectly indexed under the surname MOZART in the 1850 and correctly indexed as MORAN in the 1860 federal censuses of Fayette Co. TX. The family is indexed incorrectly as MORRON in the 1870 Lavaca Co. TX federal census. Children were Henry (married Martha unknown), Sarah Ann Elizabeth (married George H. IZARD), Nancy Salina (married Pious D. HARRELL), Marmaduke Y. (married Salina Catherine WATSON and Mattie DUNN), Reuben T., Charles H. (Jr)., John B. (married Mary ROSS in November 1881 in Dallas; family history indicates he was a horseracing jockey), Caroline E. (married J. F. HOLT), Daniel Sylvanus (married Wilie Agnes MELTON), and Emma. I am looking for information on Charles H. MORAN Sr.'s death. I am also looking for information on the families of his children. The family was living in the Plum Grove location in 1860. Charles H. Moran probably died before 1880. I have a letter from Chahta Tamaha (Choctaw Town) dated November 1879 enrolling Elizabeth and her eight living children as members of the Choctaw Nation of Indian Territory in what is now Oklahoma. Box recorded weddings and funerals in Fayette & Lavaca Counties from 1856-1861. He was the first Chaplain of Lyons Lodge #195 in LaGrange when it was formed in 1856. He was a Methodist Minister who transferred from the Alabama Circuit to Texas in 1852. Their known children were Mildred, John W., Henry B., George P., Sweyne, Mary D., Allen M. Jr., and Georgia. His son, George P. was the County Clerk of DeWitt Co. from 1900-1920. |

I am seeking information about the burial site of William Miller BAYLOR, my GGGrandfather, and brother of Judge REB Baylor. He had an unconditional land grant of 640 acres south of LaGrange in an area known as Ross' Prairie. I have William Miller's death date as 23 Feb 1859. He and his family farmed this land at Ross' Prairie. Have been told that he is buried on the farm near the mouth of Rocky Creek.
